JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish packaging and processing specifications at the part number level for new product introductions, cost savings, or other supply chain improvements.
- Develop, communicate and maintain supplier packaging requirements.
- Lead initiatives and collaboration with suppliers and facilities changing packaging to improve efficiency within receiving, warehousing, and/or line-side delivery.
- Create packaging concepts and container layouts using 3D modeling software (i.e. Pro-E).
- Perform cost analysis and develop business cases for implementing packaging improvements.
- Procure and validate new packaging and containers during pilot phase.
- Audit supplier conformance to packaging specifications.
- Develop and deploy creative / original solutions to complex problems.
- Work to provide engineered solutions to preserve part integrity through warehousing and production processes.
- Collaborate with suppliers to provide engineered packaging solutions.
- Collaborate with internal process partners to provide engineered packaging solutions.
- Design packaging solutions in Kreo or other modeling software.
- Document packaging specifications.
- Analyze business plans and proposals to provide cost effective solutions.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in packaging engineering, logistics engineering, supply chain, mechanical/industrial/manufacturing engineering or related field with 2-4 years’ experience.
- 2-4 years’ experience as a packaging engineer or packaging analyst.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Intermediate computer skills (Office 365, Email, Task Specific Software, etc.).
- Ability to use 3D modeling software.
- Data analysis experience.
- Experience with Manufacturing Enterprise Packaging System.
- Experience in conducting cost analysis preparing business cases.
- Experience in supplier collaboration implementing packaging and logistics changes.
- Knowledge and understanding of 6 Sigma project management principles.
- Experience within operations in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge and experience with Pack Assistant and Teamcenter.
- Familiar with company policies and procedures with a strong department background.
- Additional packaging design experience in automotive or similar industry.
- Creo or Solid Works Packaging Modeling Experience.
